A small workshop in the center of Naunheim (district of Wetzlar) was the starting point of today's company. Here Eugen Janitza had designed and built the first power factor controllers. The company chronicle mentions the 15th September 1961 as founding date.

Due to fast growing demand for electrical controls and switchgear in 1969 a new factory building was established right at the city limit of Naunheim.

Since the early beginnings of an electrical workshop with predominantly manual production the Eugen Janitza GmbH developed within a short period of time to an industrial enterprise with international recognition.

For the 25th company anniversary of the Eugen Janitza GmbH in 1986, a new company,  dedicated to digital measurement equipment and energy management systems has been founded by Mr. Eugen Janitza and Mr. Markus Janitza nearby Lahnau-Waldgirmes:
