UMG 103-CBM

Universal measurement device for DIN rails

Universal measurement device for DIN rails

The UMG 103-CBM is a universal measuring device for top-hat rail mounting in low-voltage distribution systems and is used to measure and check electrical parameters in power distribution systems. It measures harmonics up to the 40th harmonic.

Main features of the UMG 103-CBM

  • Harmonics

Harmonics occur due to operating equipment with a non-linear characteristic, e.g. transformers used in saturation, energy saving bulbs, frequency converters and power electronics. They cause a load on the mains due to additional currents and can affect or even destroy operating equipment. This mains feedback can be detected and documented using power quality analyzers.

  • Modbus interface

Many UMG measuring devices have an RS485 interface with a Modbus RTU protocol, which enables extremely cost-efficient networking. It features simple topology configuration and a lack of sensitivity to EMC interference. Communication between the sender and the recipient takes place on a wired basis via a sheathed, twisted pair cable.

  • GridVis®

GridVis® is a comprehensive and scalable piece of software for setting up an energy monitoring system and monitoring the power quality. It is used to both program and configure many UMG measuring devices, as well as to read, process and analyse the measured data. Typical applications are energy supply, industrial systems, facility management, etc.

  • Threshold value monitoring

Threshold value monitoring can be assigned to both alarm management and switching operations. Corresponding UMG measuring devices have digital outputs that are suitable as switch outputs. Therefore, certain reactions can be automated if a threshold value is exceeded or not reached.

Areas of application

  • Large measurement data memory for even more data security

Qualified statements about energy consumption and power quality cannot be obtained with measurements that are limited exclusively to the feed-in point. If you want to identify sources of interference or energy wasters, you have to collect data at many points in the network, i.e. the granularity (resolution) of the measurement is crucial. But this is often a space and cost issue.

An ideal solution for this task is the new UMG 103-CBM. The extremely compact and inexpensive universal measuring device only requires a width of 71.5 mm on the DIN rail and thus fits comfortably into any installation distributor. In addition to a large number of energy values and electrical measured values, it offers a variety of additional functions, such as the measurement of harmonics, storage of minimum and maximum values, operating hours counter and bimetal function. The UMG 103-CBM can be operated both as a slave to a higher-level device, such as the UMG 604E, and directly connected to a PC.

  • Local data backup with clock | battery | memory

The Janitza UMG 103-CBM is based on the proven technology of the UMG 103. With clock, battery and measurement data memory, it becomes a device that opens up completely new applications. On the one hand, data security is considerably increased. This is highly relevant when energy data for individual parts of the company or customers are recorded separately. On the other hand, the device can serve as a stand-alone solution in areas where differentiated network monitoring was previously too costly.
