Energy monitoring revolutionized

BRANCH CIRCUIT MONITORING IN PDUS

The primary function of the data center is to ensure continuous power supply to IT infrastructure without interruption. In order to achieve these goals, UPS systems and generators are used to create complex grid backup systems which minimize or eliminate downtime should a fault occur. Multiple power solutions create power circuitry with many redundancy options, so high-end monitoring systems are essential to create the transparency needed so that energy shortfalls can be prevented.

It is primarily a question of proactively monitoring electrical uptime and reporting when limit values have been exceeded. However, energy efficiency also plays an increasingly important role in ensuring data centers are operated cost efficiently and competitively. Effective operation and planning of the available infrastructure is only possible with a suitable energy management system.

Janitza’s branch circuit monitoring solution UMG 804 can be integrated into all types of PDU/PDC (Power distribution unit/ cabinet). The UMG 804 is available with two different kinds of current measurement modules. UMG 804 measurements are available in real-time, giving the data centre manager essential rack visibility and quick access to data and alarms.

Areas of Application

Colocation Data Centers

Colocation data centers often must monitor the health and energy usage of each branch circuit

Lighting/HVAC Energy Optimization

When optimizing building systems, sub-metering provides the data to initiate and verify energy efficiency updates

Demand Management

Sub-metering identifies energy use by specific loads, allowing them to be managed to avoid peak demand charges

Tenant Sub-Metering

Use sub-metering to allocate energy costs for tenants.

Switchgear/Power Distribution

Economically identify energy and power use per breaker

Circuit/Load Health

Facilities use sub-metering to verify performance of critical loads

Energy Use Allocation

Large buildings and campuses require energy use allocation for costing purposes.
