REQUIREMENT

A global construction fi rm faced a mandate to provide energy consumption data and power quality reporting during a live sports fi nal broadcast in the USA. Consumption data was critical for billing, while power anomalies had to be monitored and included in a post-game report for the broadcast contract holder. Failing to provide this report would breach the contract, trigger fi nancial penalties, and undermine the fi rm’s promise of delivering peace of mind. The project manager had just 7 weeks to deploy an outdoor-rated Energy Management and Power System (EMPS) that met all technical requirements before the broadcast went live. With revenue on the line, failure was not an option.

SOLUTION

Faced with a non-negotiable deadline for a televised sports fi nal, the company successfully deployed an EMPS solution in time for the big game. Janitza was selected as the trusted advisor based on prior experience supporting the broadcast contract holder in Europe and for its accelerated lead times in the USA. Using in-stock power analyzers and expansion modules, Janitza enabled rapid onsite delivery and developed a solution that met all technical requirements. Daisy-chaining analyzers and modules reduced the number of meters needed, helping control costs. Because the deployment was located outside the stadium, a NEMA 3R-rated outdoor enclosure was installed to withstand rain, sleet, and ice. The global construction fi rm collected accurate facility data through the outdoor EMPS, which was transformed into actionable reporting using Janitza’s GridVis® soft ware. This enabled the customer to meet contractual obligations for post-event energy consumption and power quality reporting. Janitza’s white glove support, both onsite and virtual, ensured the solution was deployed smoothly and on time. From kickoff to fi nal broadcast sign-off , their hands-on approach kept the project on track, where even a single error could have jeopardized the event.

BENEFIT

The global construction fi rm successfully deployed a power quality and energy measurement solution in just 7 weeks. Right on time for the live sports broadcast. Readily available inventory and modular components enabled fast delivery, and Janitza’s ongoing project support kept the timeline on track. The fi rm gained access to real-time consumption data and streamlined reporting for billing and compliance. The solution helped meet contractual obligations while prioritizing broadcast continuity, revenue protection, and fan safety. Even earning promotions for the global construction fi rm project team involved.
