Customer benefits

The energy monitoring system consists of eight UMG 605 devices. With them, the Palace of Arts is able to monitor the parameters that determine the quality of the power grid despite the changing conditions from evening to evening. This is essential for reliable operation.

The installed energy monitoring system also enables the monitoring and compensation of reactive power. By monitoring the online data, it is possible to avoid overloading the power used. The mobile device enables individual monitoring at the motors and in the theater rooms.

Project description

The Palace of Arts in Budapest offers space for smaller exhibitions, theater halls, and three larger institutions. The quality of the electrical energy of such an important facility at European level is an important issue for the operation of the building. The determination of the required power, consumption, harmonics current, and the observation of reactive and active power, as well as the recording of power disturbances, made up a large part of the project.

Janitza chose the UMG 605 for this project because it fits perfectly with the requirements of the network parameters defined by the Hungarian standard MSZ EN 50160. Providing the right power quality for the building is a key issue for the operator because of its theater and television broadcasts. To enable a more precise analysis, all the data is stored in a database. Communication between the monitoring station and the devices takes place over the internal network via the Ethernet port. The mobile device, which was developed by Hunyadi Kft. and is part of the project, enables the individual measurements. In addition to the UMG 605, the mobile device also contains JANITZA current transformers.
