Expandable Power Analyzer
UMG 604-PRO

More than just a multifunction measurement device. Multifunction measurement device, transients recorder, meter (kWh, kvarh), peak load optimisation, harmonics analyser, PLC, state monitoring, event plotter, data logger, UMG 604-EP PRO with profibus interface (see illustration), UMG 604 E-PRO without profibus interface

Main features

  • Harmonics

Harmonics occur due to operating equipment with a non-linear characteristic, e.g. transformers used in saturation, energy saving bulbs, frequency converters and power electronics. They cause a load on the mains due to additional currents and can affect or even destroy operating equipment. This mains feedback can be detected and documented using power quality analysers.

  • Ethernet-Modbus-Gateway

The Ethernet Modbus gateway can be used to easily include the Modbus RTU devices that are connected to the master device as slaves in an Ethernet architecture. This is also possible via a Modbus RTU interface for devices with identical file formats and matching function codes.

  • Memory

Many UMG measuring devices have their own memory containing typical recording ranges of up to 2 years. Recording is freely configurable. A 128 megabyte memory can record around 5,000,000 values.

  • Measuring devices homepage

The web server for the measuring device provides a wide range of data in a user-friendly format. The user does not have to install any software on their PC; a conventional web browser is all that is required. The user enters the measuring device IP address in the browser's URL bar and the measuring devices homepage is displayed on the screen. In addition to the modern homepage, APPs are available for an extended range of functions.

  • Events

Events are short-term increases in voltage, dips in voltage, current swells or short-term interruptions (e.g. through bird strike or short circuits). UMG measuring devices can safely record and process events as of 20 ms and transients as of 50 μs. The causes of power quality variations can be identified and analysed in this way.

  • Jasic®

The user can use the graphical programming language Jasic® to add their own functions to a UMG measuring device. Up to seven freely configurable user programs can run in parallel, e.g. monitoring processes or notifications when reaching defined threshold values. In addition to the graphical programming option, the user is also free to program the source code directly in JASIC.

APPs including

Measurement monitor

Configurable display of current and historical measured values with automatic scaling. Graphical representation on the device's own homepage without additional software installation.

IEC 61000-2-4 Watchdog PRO light

Permanent monitoring of the power quality based on EC 61000-2-4 in customers' energy supply networks.

Areas of application

  • Master device for energy management systems, (e.g. ISO 50001)
  • Measurement, monitoring and checking of electrical characteristics in energy distribution systems
  • Consumption data acquisition
  • Monitoring of the power quality (harmonics, short-term interruptions, transients, starting currents, etc.)
  • Measured value transducer for building management systems or PLC
  • Control tasks e.g. depending on measured value or limit values being reached
  • Peak demand management
  • Ethernet gateway for subordinate measurement points
  • Remote monitoring

The new generation – the UMG PRO series

The new PRO series combines the latest technology with excellent functions and attractive design. The increased variety of functions and comprehensive illustration options enable measurement data and measurement results to be analysed and interpreted more easily. Data can be processed, visualised and analysed with the help of the pre-installed Janitza APPs. APPs are a function extension of the device homepage. The traffic-light principle makes complex power quality analyses, for example, understandable for everyone.
