Modules

Thanks to the compact module design, the UMG 801 can be expanded in a variety of ways, for example to up to 92 current measurement inputs or 144 digital inputs.

Advantages of modular measurement point expansion

  • Space-saving, compact system
  • Minimum cost per additional current measuring channel
  • No wiring thanks and fewer sources of error due to plug & play approach
  • Greater flexibility thanks to modular product design
  • No additional power supply necessary for the measuring modules
  • Option to design the measurement device unit in line with individual project requirements
  • Expansion module
    800-CT8-A

The 800-CT8-A expansion module extends the base device with 8 additional current measuring
channels for each module attached. The modules can be connected using a click system with no
external cabling between the base device and the current measuring modules.

    • 8 additional current measuring channels
    • Connection of conventional current transformers
    • Installation via click system with no external cabling
    • Compact 4 sub-unit size
    • Requires a single module slot
  • Expansion module
    800-CT8-LP

You can use the 800-CT8-LP expansion module to expand the basic device by 8 additional current measuring channels for low power current transformers. The module takes up very little space with just one 1 sub-unit. The modules are connected via the click system. You do not need any cables connecting the basic device and module.

Low power current transformers offer numerous advantages over conventional transformers. For example, they do not have to be short-circuited during
installation or servicing, which eliminates the need for transformer disconnect terminals. This saves a lot of space in the switchboard cabinet and saves the cost of disconnect terminals and installation.

    • 8 additional current measuring channels
    • Connection of low power current transformers
    • Installation via click system with no external cabling
    • Takes up very little space with just one 1 sub-unit and no transformer disconnect terminals are required
    • Price advantage of low power current transformers compared to conventional transformers
    • Higher levels of occupational health and safety during installation
    • Up to 40% cost saving and 75% space saving compared to 800-CT8-A module
  • Expansion module
    800-DI14

The 800-DI14 expansion module has 14 additional digital inputs. Use the click system to connect the modules to the base system.

    • 14 additional digital inputs used to capture digital status information (on/off, open/closed,
      etc.)
    • Installation via click system with no external cabling
    • Takes up very little space with just one 1 sub-unit
    • Requires a single module slot
  • Transfer Module
    800-CON-RJ45

    • Has a RJ45 interface and can be connected via a standardized cable
    • 2 modules connect remote measurement points with each other
    • Bridge distances of up to 100 m using cables
    • only 2 sub-units per module
    • Requires no module slot
  • Transfer module
    800-CON

Remote measurement points can be connected quickly and easily using the 800-CON transfer module. This involves docking the transition module to the base device and connecting it to a transition module located up to 100 m away using a cable.

The expansion modules can be connected to the second transition module to take measurements
    remotelyand record the data.

An 800-CON module does not requires a module slot.

Module Slots

What are module slots?

There is a limit to the number of modules that can be connected to a UMG 801. This limit is expressed in terms of module slots, which help to determine how many modules can be connected at any one time. The limit depends on the software used and does not correspond to any physical connections.

The UMG 801 has 10 of these module slots and each module requires the number of slots defined for this module. This number can vary from module to module. For example, the basic device can be expanded to up to 92 current measuring channels or 144 digital inputs when using the right module.
